Silverton Yachts, founded in the late 1960s in New Jersey, established a reputation for building comfortable, spacious, and affordable mid-size cruisers, convertibles, and motor yachts. Known for maximizing interior space and offering great value, they were popular choices for families, couples, and those looking for liveaboard comfort. Silverton aimed to provide maximum living space, often featuring large, open salons, panoramic windows, and comfortable, well-appointed cabins. One of their more popular models was the 422 Motor Yacht.

The Silverton 422 MY, produced from 1996 to 2001, was a popular entry-level aft-cabin cruiser, lauded for maximizing interior volume and offering high-value features for its size. It was well-regarded for a spacious two-stateroom layout, comfortable, bright salon, and innovative steps to the bridge and swim platform, making it a favorite for families and liveaboard cruising. Often considered an excellent choice for entertaining, complete with a wet bar and large aft deck, the 422 MY was also known for comfortable, stable, and straightforward handling in rough seas.
